If you are a young woman under 18 years and your state does not permit you to have sex with guys who are over 18 or if there is some ridiculous 4 year arbitrary age difference enforced just because you are under 18, I would suggest that you write to your local legislator (anonymously if you want), and tell them your age and your boyfriend's age and tell them the laws are ridiculous.
State your case and describe some detail regarding your individuality and the reason you may think the law is arbitrary. If you are mature enough to have a serious relationship then you are mature enough to address it with people who would make it illegal.
I'm convinced the US needs to adjust it's justice system to stop criminalizing normal behavior such as this. It may be socially unacceptable for a 30 y.o. to have sex with a 16 y.o. but it certainly should not be illegal IMO.
I guess it's largely a matter of perspective but I moved in with my wife when she was 16 and I was 22 so I can relate to this situation and many years later we are still very happily married even though everyone at the time thought I was a perv.
Our youth is not so helpless that they need our protection that much. Many of them can speak for themselves and make their own decisions by the time they are 16.
