I'm losing my best friends and I'm so jealous....how do I deal with this?

A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Dear Cupid,

A little less than a month ago, my two best friends,

Kathleen and Jason, moved away. Their new town is about

an hour or so away from mine. Even though it's not that

far away (it's only about sixty miles), it feels like

it's on the other side of the world. Losing them has

really taken a serious toll on me; it's honestly one of

the most difficult things I've ever had to go through.

Well, about a week ago, I talked to them over the phone

and found out that they are adjusting well. Jason has a

girlfriend, Kathleen kind of has a crush on someone,

and they're making new friends. Both of them are REALLY

dedicated Christians, and they said that their new

friends are as well. I'm really, really, really happy

to hear that things are going so well for them, and it

helps me to sleep at night knowing that they're okay,

but at the same time, I can't help but feel a little

jealous. I've always known that Jason and I will never

date (we're think of each other too much like brother

and sister), so I'm not exactly jealous of his girl

simply because she's dating him, and I had prayed that

they would make new friends and that things would go

well for them, but at the same time, the prospect of

them making new friends scares me. I feel like I'm

losing my best friends. I really don't want to feel

like this; it makes me feel like I'm a bad person. How

can I get over this jealousy and just be happy for

them?
