I just want to make sure I won't get arrested when I turn 18 and what is the law against dating minors since she will still be a minor when I turn 18. So can anyone help me out here? There is very much so a law. Statutory Rape is no laughing matter, and there is no burden of proof that you actually slept with her. Propriety is the key. If her parents push it, you will be arrested and prolly convicted. The law is on their side, not yours. Additionally, you'll get hit twice on this one, as she is below the age of consent now, but you're over. When you're 18 and she is 14 not only will she be a minor while you are of majority, she will Still but under the age of consent. Go go registered sex offender, and you haven't necessarily even had sex yet.
Best advice: Stop dating children and find a girl your own age. If she wants to continue it when you're both legal, go for it. Until then, age is very much more than a number.

 As a mother of three, two of which are girls, I can state without any qualms that a 12 year old girl, ANY 12 year old girl is not ready for the dating scene. If you are such a good guy you will wait a few years to pursue this romance.

A parent who allows their 12 year old daughter to date period is way off base, let alone to date a 16 year old. Age certainly matters in this case, her mom is being very irresponsible.

reader, anonymous, writes (11 November 2008): Technically it's illegal now, at least the sexual stuff, as you are at the age of consent and she is yet to reach it. But unless there is someone that reports you and then physical evidence that you've had sex then nobody can do anything! I mean when I turn 18 my boyfriend will be 15. It's like saying it's illegal for an 18 year old to be with a 17 year old - it doesn't make it illegal unless you've had sex with an underage.
