I think I should make the first move, but what to say?

Question - (25 April 2009) 3 Answers - (Newest, 25 April 2009)
A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

i met this guy a while ago, but didn't think I'd ever see him again. The other night I bumped into him, and he invited me into his house. We ended up kissing after a couple of hours, and exchanged numbers. He said things like 'when are we going to go out, on a date?' and other things implying that he likes me.

We haven't spoke since, but I figure I should make the first move. But I have no idea of what to say, or how to say it! I'm going away for 2 weeks, so I thought maybe text him when I get back, but any suggestions on what to say? I'm quite shy when it comes down to anything like this. And also, does it sounds like he likes me enough to consider going out with me?

A reader, anonymous, writes (25 April 2009):

Don't text him - speak to him! Texts are so bloody impersonal, it could be anyone texting you. Let him hear your voice, let him hear how enthusiastic you are to meet up with him again. There's nothing as personal as hearing someone's voice.

God help this younger generation if texting becomes the primary means of communication. Everyone will be visiting hospitals on a regular basis getting treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome.

Harry Castle agony auntText him.

"I'll be away for a couple of weeks and won't be able to see you, but it would be great to keep in touch by phone. TB."

That should provoke some sort of reaction, and you will know where you stand.

Also, less embarrassing, texting, if you are shy or uncertain.

Good luck.

Harry.
