 I agree with camille maybe it's his attention that he gives you that causes you to feel maybe things are more on your part or maybe there is something missing in this situation that is not making you feel the 100%.
The only thing you can do is take time out and work through what you want from him before he gives up and moves on and it's too late.

 If he keeps asking you out, perhaps it's his interest in you that's making you attracted to him?
Try not seeing him for a while and see if absence really does make the heart grown foner or if it's actually out of sight, out of mind.
