Hello

My boyfriend has the frendulum breve problem and i have researched it but nothing seems to sink in so if someone could explain it really simply so i can just get grips with it would be much appreciated. Also im so worried about hurting him and he is the kind of person who wont say anything about it until its unbareable, is there any advice as to how to foreplay and/or have intercourse with as little pain for him as possible.

Thanks

A reader, anonymous, writes (23 February 2009):

basically there is a tiny bit of skin that sits in the v part of the penis c--8 (in my rubbish diagram represented by the sign) this stays attached to the tip and the rest of the foreskin and should be long enough to be able to expose the head fully but in some people it doesn't...easy surgery to fix... (allegedly).

ok i am not a dr. but these wiki articles help...

If you cannot retract your foreskin freely, easily and painlessly over the rim of the glans (head) when both flaccid and erect then you are suffering from phimosis.

If you can retract your foreskin to expose the whole glans but cannot smooth it back down the shaft without pain, or distortion of the glans, then you have frenulum breve.

Both conditions result from developmental abnormalities as the foreskin should be freely fully retractable long before puberty. Very often boys who have one of these problems also have to other to a greater or lesser extent. If left unresolved you will have problems during sex, possibly ripping your foreskin and/or frenulum with very painful and bloody results.

There is only one sure cure for both conditions ad that is circumcision. You cannot ever lengthen your frenulum with any form of stretching exercises. Stretching exercises to widen the tip of the foreskin to relieve phimosis most often fail as the tip develops minute tears that heal with even less elastic scar tissue and thus make the problem worse.

If you want to both keep your penis fully clean to avoid infection under the foreskin (balanitis), and to have a normal sex life then you are going to have to find a way to see a doctor and get these problems sorted out. And sooner rather than later. You have only one penis - look after it!

-----------------

a frenulum breve will lead the penis head pointing down, phimosis will keep the foreskin from retracting

circumcision is never needed to solve this either way

you just need to do some stretching, basically stretch the opening, if you do regularly for a while you will grow new skin and have the flexibility you need to retract the foreskin (see the links below) you can also get topical steroid cream from the doctor to help speed it up

basically just place two fingers in the foreskin opening, gently hold it open for a few minutes a few times a day, eventually the skin will loosen

also do a web search for "phimosis stretching"

--------------

There are a number of ways to cure a tight foreskin without getting it removed.

1) MANUAL STRETCHING

The vast majority of tight foreskins can be suitably loosened within a month or so by persistant stretching twice daily. Be patient and disciplined to do it regularly, and it'll be worth it in the end.

The below website has good instructions:

2) STEROID CREAMS

If the stretching shows no significant improvement after a month, you should get a prescription for betamethasone cream.. Apply this to the tight foreskin inside and outside a couple of times a day for a month, combined with the manual stretching.

3) PREPUTIOPLASTY

If the above methods fail outright, you should look into a minor operation called a preputioplasty, where a relieving incision is made in the tight ring limiting the foreskin retraction. It takes a couple of weeks to heal and should cure any tight foreskin without removing your entire foreskin and its sensory qualities, which is what a circumcision will do. Circumcision is an irreversible and rarely necessary procedure, so make it the last resort.
