WOW...

- A female reader, anonymous, writes (24 January 2008):

I have one in the same place! and ive never seen anyone else that does!

Im 16 Aswell.

Its the most horrible thing ever!

I hate having them so much! They drive me CRAZY!

the one on my leg i hated the most i never wear anything higher then the knee so you cant see it! I went to my doctor but she said it would leave an "unsightly scar"if i got it removed, i was really upset so i changed doctors then mum said she would take me to see the new one about it but i couldnt deal with it anymore so i found this stuff on the internet Walt and mole remover and it kinda worked but now theres a big red/purple thing which is just as bad as the goddamn mole! i regret using it! I still never wear clothes where you can see it :'(

Depressing or what!

So YOU should defo NOT get anything online go to the doctor about it! Get it done PROPERLY! Trust me or you will regret it!

Also.. ive been going out with my boyfriend for 9months. When i had the mole and when i got rid of it and ive never told him about it hes never really seen it ive tried to hide it because i HATE the thought of him knowing and i dont even think i could talk to him about it! So i dont think he know about it? Well at least hes never said anything about it,even if he does know. So i dont think boys really care about stupid things like that! Really, i think its all in your heads! but i know how it makes you feel so do what you think is right :)

Good luck with whatever do you

i hope i have given you some helpful info!

Im am also 16, and I have a mole above my neecap on my thigh, i am also extremely self concious of it. I am considering to get it removed and my mum will allow me to, but my doctor wont agree to it. We dont like our doctor as he is not caring and doesnt understand problems. I also feels boys will be put off by it and i absaloutly hate it and want to wear skirts but am not brave enough too! Does anyone know any places atleast in essex-uk where they may consider this...

Trust me i know how you feel x

Yeah youre going to have to go to a dermatologist to get it removed, best if you tell your mom so you dont end up being told you cant cause of your age, just complicates things more. chances are if u have one someone in your family might have too..sometimes it genetics, so dont be embarassed..its not like you said "god please give me this mole on my back i want one so bad"...seriously u didnt ask for it to be there haha so just tell your mama and go get it done! :]

I have a mole near my eye and i hate it! My mum was really supportive when i asked about getting it removed however some GPs may not support you with it saying that you are too young and there is no medical reason for it. If it is protruding abouve your skin level noticable and catching on clothes and bleeding they may be more sympathetic to you. Good luck i am going to try to persuade my GP into refering me as i am really self-consious about it.

willywombat agony auntPlease go and see your GP. Moles are not disgusting they are just there. Discuss this with your Mum and tell her how you feel about it. She won't be embarrassed and you shouldn't either....

Good luck.

A female reader, Wendyg United Kingdom +, writes (7 June 2006):

Wendyg agony auntYou may find that your mum is pretty understanding in such matters, you are just being cautious and its not a silly thing to go asking your mum, she is your mum and she cares about you and would probably feel chuffed that you feel you can go to her about anything! You can pop along to your local doctors and they will asses the best way to go about having it removed. They will check it over and see what they think and in same cases it can be done at your local clinic depending on what sort of clinic you belong to. Make an appointment to see your doctor. You dont have to tell your mum and you should be able to get your mole removed at the age you are, but it might help to tell your mum for some moral support, but you dont have to you can still attend and arrange to have it removed without her being there.

Take care and Good luck.

A female reader, DrPsych United Kingdom +, writes (7 June 2006):

DrPsych agony auntAt 16 you are free to go and see your GP on your own without parental permission. Anything you discuss with your doctor is confidential. S/he would probably make a referral to the local dermatologist doctor at the hospital with a view to taking a sample of the mole - some moles can be removed without too much of a scar, while others are best left alone.

A female reader, sexseahot United States +, writes (7 June 2006):

sexseahot agony auntYou shouldn't be so self conscious about your mole. Just simply ask your mom if you can get it removed...it shouldn't be embarrassing to ask your mom about this. I'm not quite sure what age you need to be, but if you have your mom go about doing this, it shouldn't matter what age you are because you'd have your mom's consent. Good Luck!
