writes: aRGHHHHH!!! I need help! I think I did something stupid. There's this girl I like, and I'm kind of shy. Whenever I see her, I look/smile and do the shy guy thing, and look away pretty instantly. She sometimes smiles back, but im totally unsure when it comes to girls and knowing signals they give off.Well, it's been like this for a few months, and I've not had the guts to say anything to her. Yesterday I came up with a dumb plan of asking 1 of my m8s if he knew if she was single. Now he's gone and told her how much I fancy her. I could barely look at her today without thinking omg what if she hates me, and doesn't like me liking her in that way. I just dunno what to do. I'v been wanting to ask her out for months, but coming up with excusses not to, and now I'm pretty much using this as an excuss not to, cause I dont think she would ever be interested. I've probably aleady made a fool of myself now. Today, I have not been able to look or say anything to her. grrrrr i just dunno wot to do. I just don't want to look an idiot asking her out, not knowing if she had a b/f or not, and now she knows I fancy her and my m8s are all poking and laughing about it.

umm... hiya! i want to let you know that i think she would say yes if you ask her out NOT A LIE cuz i know how it feel i'm in the same position as you right now but it's a whole different concept ! i'm the one who likes someone but i have no guts ( to know whether he likes me or not) anyways back to your problem umm.. your nice and sweet and most typical girls like so i say go for it!! let her know that you like her who knows maybe she likes you back and she's expieriencing the same agony your going through

reader, anonymous, writes (6 February 2008): hi, i wrote the question.you are right, i am a really nice and sweet guy, not sure if thats a gd thing or not, like most girls like the bad boy type, just my problem is im really shy. i mean today after i heard they had told her i had a crush on her i just couldnt bring myself to look at her thro fear of rejection. i just think to myelf that shes way outta my league and she wouldnt be interested, but i just dont know. i know this has forced my hand, i have to say something, im just crapping myself. trying to think of a gd opening line, im just worried i wont say anything, then i'll look a idiot and god knows wot she'll think if i dont say anything. i know i'll regret it if i dont say anything, iv just gotta push thro the fear of actually talking to her

Awww don't sweat it. If a girl is not interested and if you are a nice guy they always find a nice way of turning you down. so the worst that can happen is she'll say no.
Also beware of things girls say to turn down a guy they sometimes sound misleading and give guys false hope.
Now that the bad part is over.. what if you asked her and she said yes! think positive! girls love shy guys but have a little confidence in yourself. If you think you wont get her chances are you wont. Just make a joke out of it since you say everyone including her know about your feelings for her. cut straight to the chase.. say something like "So, my secret is out haha.. do you wanna do lunch sometime?"
you have not made a fool of yourself people ask others out and get rejected all the time and still remain friends. its how you react to it. if you make a big deal and mope about it and have people feel sorry for you then they are going to laugh and poke at you even more. Otherwise it will be forgotten in a day and you guys can just being friends - it doesn't hurt having one more friend!
