A female United Kingdom age 26-29, anonymous writes:

hey guys, yet another one of those cheesy best friend boyfriend situations, basically i have fallen out with my best friend of 3 years,

she started to date a boy i really hate, and a few months ago i had a fight with him. suddenly after that she told the school about it and says she doesn't want to be my friend any more? every time i try to call her she ignores my calls but i really need to speak to her. i spoke to her at school, she said that she still liked me and hugged me? the next thing i know im in my year office being told that she's not sure if she wants to be friends? She hasn't spoken to me in nearly 3 months now, and shes not even civil to me, and I don't even want to go into school because of it no more. im not sure whether to tell my year leaders or get my mum to phone? Or even go to the year office, but I feel that they are on my "friends" side. Please help me? :)

A male reader, Dataluke United Kingdom +, writes (13 January 2011):

Dataluke agony auntWell, let’s start by saying, there are no sides to this, this is just you and her, no one else. I have a few suggestions you may want to try.

First, try talking to her anyway you can, phone, text, email, facebook. Try and get a message through.

Next, call upon a teacher who’s nice, someone that you can trust and talk to. Ask for their advice.

This one will require some organisation. Get the teacher you trust to have both you and your friend put in detention alone, while you’re in there, talk it out, just you two.

You won’t like this one, but it’s the most effective there is, go to the year office and explain the situation, say you just want to talk things out and be friends, the teachers don’t take sides.

I hope I was of some help to you, good luck with your friend.

All the best, Dataluke
