I don't like my friend at all but I think he likes me

Question - (19 December 2011) 1 Answers - (Newest, 19 December 2011)
A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

Hi, I'm 15 years old, and there is this guy that i have become friends with (A). We've een friends for 3-4 months, and recently I've begun to suspect he might like me. People have told me (but they arent the most reliable. On a scale of one to ten, i'd say a 6), and he's been acting differently. More flirtatious. I really like him--as a friend. I have no romantic feelings for him whatsoever, but I really want to continue being friends. He's not even one of those friends that if they stopped being your friend it'd be okay. I would really miss his friendship, but i don't like him back. On top of that, I like someone else, but no one knows yet. If it turns out that A likes me I don't know what I'll do. How can i let him down gently, remain his friend, and if the guy I like likes me back (there are rumors of that too, but since A and him are in different circles so the likelihood they heard it is very very slim) how to potentially form a relationship with him without hurting A's feelings?

There is a good chance you won't be able to let him down gently. Anyway you should let him know you don't love him back BEFORE letting anyone know you like another boy.
