Question - (9 January 2009) 2 Answers - (Newest, 9 January 2009)
A female United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

It's sort of a two-part problem (although I think that the two parts are inter-related). I was overseas this summer at a place where I used to live and spent time with a friend -- we hooked up a few times in the past, but this was many years ago. He is unhappy and in a bad marriage but stays in it in part because they have a child together. After I left, I realized that I had a crush on him. This was six months ago and it hasn't improved. I realize that the situation is impossible (he's married, lives overseas, and has a child with someone who is supposedly a friend of mine). But I can't get him out of my head.

When I got home, my initial reaction was to start seeing other people and try to force him out of my head. I've been single for over 2.5 years now and my last relationship ended very abruptly (he dumped me over the phone and there was basically no closure). Since then, I have had absolutely no luck, although I have tried dating websites, local sports teams, and bugging all of my friends. So far absolutely nothing. Lately all of this has me very upset. I am seeing a therapist but don't have an appointment until next week and right now I'm feeling pretty down. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would be more inclined to say that maybe it is worth persuing this, you say this guy is unhappy, maybe he is thinking of u as much as u r thinking of him. Maybe u should make contact and see how things are now, maybe u are meant to be together, isnt it worth checking out? just keep an oprn mind to prevent getting hurt. Be careful. Let me know how u get on
