how I feel.

Kay. So here goes everything.

I really like this guy, right? But he doesn't notice me. And thinks i'm wierd. Plus, his girlfriend just broke up with him. I think he's probably the coolest person i know. And he's uber hot. Idk. I have this wierd attraction to him. I just recently broke up with my boyfriend. Sooo. I'm kinda' wanting him really bad. He's fun, cool, hot. And everytime I look at him, I smile. But when he looks at me i turn away. I seem kinda' stalkerish. But. I just call it love.

Anyways. My bestfriend is trying to get us together. But not making much progress because i refuse to go near him because everytime i do. Its hard to breath and i seem to stutter a lot when i try to talk. Like this one time, in the hallway he was like "What's your name?" I was like... "............ I DONT HAVE A NAME *run away*" Now i'm the girl, who is wierd, spazztic, with no name. Great. How am I supposed to get anywere with that? I can't. ANYWAYS.I just thought it'd be nice to finally type down how i feel about him without him having the slightest clue that he knows it's about him.

So what should I try and say to him?

HELP ME. :[

WizardOfWaz agony auntYou probably realise you stuttered and kind of got silly because you were nervous. Nerves are an ancient defence mechanism designed to protect us from the unknown from way back in tribal times when stranger meant danger.

So all the energy is concentrated on the body rather than the brain, not much good your body preparing itself to run or fight every time you try to speak to a nice guy in these more civilised times though is it?

And because of the lack of oxygen in the brain during these stressful moments there is indeed a tendency to stutter or gibber like a monkey with learning difficuilties.

If you ever see so-called experienced business people attempting to do an important presentation on reality shows such as The Apprentice ot Dragons Den you can see the effects on some of them when nerves break them down and they start to fall apart right before our eyes.

Well you know the sypmtoms but is there anything that can be done? There sure is and its simple. You just take deep breaths in on a slow count of 7, hold for 3, let it out on 7 again.

Will that make you less nervous? Maybe, maybe not, but it does have the imediate practical effect of putting oxygen back into your brain, thus even if you still feel nervous you will instantly be able to think clearly and speak fluently instead of jabbering like an escaped mental patient.

So your nerves wont bother you as much when your brain is brought back to normal. Less likely to make a fool of yourself then.

Oh and you could also do what Tasha suggests ie; drop the fella a note maybe keep it light-hearted and humourous? Eg; "Hi! sorry for acting like a loon last time. I was under a bit of stress. Don't worry I'm not barking mad, well not on Tuesdays. :-)"

Regards
