Hi, I know exactly what you are going through, The pain gets so bad that i feel like it's going to kill me. I just lay on my bed and put pressure on my ovary, I was told that eating bananas, and exercising could help, also, take some midol or ibuprofen and take a hot bath. I hope this will help you, it doesn't make it completely go away however, it may become bearable. Feel better, and know that you are not alone.

kellyxxx agony auntDon't pig out on chocolate like someone else suggested, it doesn't help! Eat healthily and light foods, stodgy heavy foods will make you feel worse. Chocolate and heavy rich foods will make you even more bloated. X

pebble agony auntHi sweetheart, I really feel for you and hope you're feeling a little better since you posted the question. Most people have said everything I was going to but I have a few things I'd like to add.

Feeling cold and eating cold food and drink usually makes period pain feel worse. Heat is your friend. Hot drinks, hot water bottles on your tummy, nice snuggly pjs and duvet, maybe a little bit of warm melted chocolate... :) Look after yourself, pamper yourself as much as you can be bothered to do and if you feel like curling up and doing nothing then you do that.

What might be of a little concern is that you imply the pain has never been this bad before and this is a bit of a weird change. I wouldn't worry for the moment but if your next period starts and you're still in this amount of pain then maybe a trip to the doctors might be in order. Especially as you say you've had periods for years, they should have settled into a nice, reliable pattern by now. Any sudden changes are a massive inconvienience that you don't deserve to put up with. And I guarantee that the doctor will have heard of this problem a million billion times so don't be embarrassed.

But for now, look after yourself girly and I hope you feel better soon. Good luck.

Ever female knows exactly what your going through.

I used to be like this untill i went on the contraceptive pill, it made a massive difference. think about it babe?

well know what to do to make it better now,

1. put on your most comfortable pj's or joggers.

2. Go get a hot drink and some comfort food.

3. Take ibuprofen (it thins blood, so less cramps!)

4. Then get a hot water bottle, if you dont have one put a towel in the tumble dryer and then put that where the pain is the most.

5. Then get into bed with your favourite tv program on, and relax.

hope this helps! xxxx

kellyxxx agony auntIbuprofen is the best painkiller for period pains, don't take co-codamol as they contain codeine and this causes constipation, consipation will make the pain worse. X

Ah, join the club. I had to go to my doctors about incredibly bad period pains. She said I could either go on the contraceptive pill or have some pills specially made for it. My periods aren't even that heavy so it might not be that. Go to the doctors, they'll help you out I should think. As for at the moment, I've always found that ice helps rather than heat from a water bottle (which makes it worse for me).

All the ideas that 'Ginalolabridga' and 'betty black' said were really good but if nothing they suggested helps, and if the pains are serious, you could talk to your mom about going to a gyno and get birth control pills, they'll help the pains and your periods will be lighter. I did this and the pills helped a lot!

betty_black agony auntThe contraceptive pill helps alot of girls who suffer with heavy periods. Hot water bottles can help soothe it and take a couple cocodomols! Drink warm drinks like hot chocolate and tea. See your GP about the pill or maybe some other remedy! xx
