reader, anonymous, writes (3 January 2009): What you should have done right from the outset was to tell him that you weren't enjoying it at all and that the activity was boring you.
As it is, he thinks he's doing a great job because you're faking it. He also probably thinks you'd be disappointed if he didn't play with your bits and not only that, he could be bored with it as well!
You could tell him how to do it so that you do enjoy it, or move on to other things.
