i was in the exact same situation , a girl in school was IS jelous of me .. best thing to do is ignore the person , it'l be a challenge but its worth it , dont feed the jelous person with answering back ! act not bothered(even if it is eating at you) , there jelous of something they can't have .. you shud be loving this , someone wants to be you , ur a role model!! there pretty pathetic if they spend there time trying to be someone else and being mean for that reason ! just keep your head up high and give yourself a pat on the back for being such an inspiration to other people!! :D hope i helped :D

A male reader, Mr Raindog United States +, writes (15 August 2007):

Mr Raindog agony auntHow do they act? Stiff, cold... inflexible? I was jealous over a guy over some girl in high school and I wanted him to just keel over a die, which started a moral conundrum in my head because I actually liked him when he wasn't around my object of desire. The husband of another girl I'm friends with is jealous of me whenever I show my face around her place and he just kinda... stops. He talks differently and places a big barrier in front of him and kind of refuses to go near me unless it's to pass.

That's all I can add. I haven't had a lot of experience with the sensation on either side of the coin.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (14 August 2007):

I've been jealous of other women and have had other women jealous of me. When I'm jealous I'll keep it to myself or find myself being too nice to them or not want to be around them. I've encountered women who were jealous of me who were the same way but the "less nice" ones can be downright mean, nasty and backstabbing.

Love_is_all_youu_need agony auntHi there! You've basically answered your own question - people are mean to you when they're jealous! When you encounter this type of behaviour, you often experience put-down comments! They'll usually try to find a fault with you to make them feel better about themselves...There really isn't anything to worry about here! They just don't have what you do, so they act in a childish manner.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (14 August 2007):

Yeah people can be mean to you if they are jealous. They can be mean for other reasons too.

There are different kinds of jealousy. Like when a bf (and sometimes a friend) is jealous he is not jealous OF you, he is jealous of other guys, perhaps. Or of not having all your attention. But he is not going to be mean to you unless he is just abusive.

But if a coworker and sometimes a "friend" is jealous it's possible that they are jealous OF you. In that case they can be mean. These are clear signs of this type of jealousy.

-they may try to put you down in front of others.

-they are condescending towards you. e.g. Treat you like you are dumb.

-Talk sh*t about you behind your back. Spread rumors.

Just stuff like that. But if you seem to think that everybody is jealous of you, then you might just have a big ego. That is just something you need to work on. Not everybody is going to like you. And the minute people step out of bounds with you, be it because they are jealous or whatever the reason, stand up for yourself and don't let them get away with it. That way they will start respecting you and you won't have to deal with this anymore.
