How do I go about meeting my online love interest?

Question - (20 January 2009) 9 Answers - (Newest, 13 February 2009)
A male United Kingdom age 41-50, anonymous writes:

A while back, I got chatting to a girl in a chatroom called Stacey. When she used to ring me, the number was always listed as private.

A couple of months ago, she gave me her number, and we text a lot.

Through her texts, and the comments left on her Facebook profile, our phone conversations we used to have, and MSN, her personality has really shone through.

However, I haven't yet met her.

Because it's not face to face, how do I go about this? Do I arrange to meet a couple of friends for a drink and invite her along?

She ends all her texts to me with a kiss, sometimes in small, sometimes in a capital x!

Advice anyone?

In an effort to find her address, I asked some her friends on Facebook, and even though I said 'please dont tell her' they did, and she texted me saying, and I quote "Are you some kind of pathetic person wanting my address? I never want to talk to you again" Then I said "I wanted to send you flowers for Valentine's Day. I didn't want to stalk you; that's just wrong". That's how we ended it

Shall I give her this:

My days are filled with yearning;

My nights are full of dreams.

I’m always thinking of you;

I’m in a trance, it seems.

You’re all I ever wanted;

I wish you could be mine;

And so I have to ask you:

Will you be my Valentine?

If yyes, I was thinking initially of emailing or texting it, but now I think I want to give it to her face-to-face

Would it be a bit obvious if I asked to meet her a week on Saturday? (14 Feb!)

She emailed me this morning, saying she's been very busy with work, she also said "Not sure; I go with the flow" to my question of wanting to meet up for a coffee. I said I'd text her nearer the time

No email over the weekend, do u think it will be okay if I phone or text her tonight? Do you think that she might be waiting for me to ask her out (even for a coffee)?

I have got no email from her yet - should I wait or text her with the question?

I did a very stupid thing on Tuesday afternoon - I told a male friend on Facebook that I wanted to meet her and potentially date her, but my mate told me that men know how to keep secrets like that!

I wrote her an email this morning, asking if she wanted to meet for a coffee and a chat when I go shopping in Bromley next week.

I chatted to her on Facebook this afternoon, she hasn't read the email yet, and she acted as if she didn't know about me wanting to go out with her

Or, as she lives in Bromley, and there's a shopping centre there, shall I say I'm going shopping and meet her there?

If I can't get a couple of friends together, shall I just say 'Fancy coming for a drink. You can bring a friend if you want'?
