Hey..

I've recently lost all the energy to do anything with my life. However, I got back from a trip visiting some friends for a week one week ago, and that was good. So now I'm just trying to work out my next step.

I need to get a job and book some driving lessons.

Driving lessons are just a case of me needing to book them then run with it. But as it is, I just keep putting it off for nonsense reasons e.g. "I'll do it next week", "I could do it now, so that means I can do it later".

The job is a problem. Not got a clue how to get one, as I heard most people get them through friends/family. Should I just send a CV out to every shop I wouldn't mind working for and see what happens?

Hey, I'm 19 and off for the summer. I just went to a recruitment agency full of a bunch of Polish immigrants. I think a lot of people were illegal or had no documentation, so I was like gold to them. In a couple days, they gave me a job packaging up and sending off boxes in a warehouse. I was surprised at how easy it was to get a job (no CV or anything, they took me to work right away). This is the first time I've ever worked, and I just went in a hoodie and jeans. If you really want to get a job quickly and lazily like me, just go work with immigrants. I had no motivation either. Now after a paycheck, it's kinda cool. Also, working a junky job with people who don't speak English slightly rekindled my desire to pursue engineering in university. Oh yea, you will learn what people mean by "shitty job" if you do this. You get a job, plus it will make you more motivated. Problem solved.

Hi

first i luv your upbeat attitude...

you should do well probably using your charm for now !!!!to get into a job...for summer maybe...just go ask...they like confidence and showing that yu are trying even when not advertized looks good. Then you should sit down and take a good think about what you would like to do as a career, would you need t take study up? fulltime or part time? or would there be prospects in the job that you may just land this summer?....experince is great and is a good foundation and will certainly help get you driving.

If there is nothing local for yu,then i would look further afield....you can always return home to see family and friends. Please don,t loose confidence, as us older adults know how difficult it can be to find emplyment especially doing what you like doing, so think about study to get you where you want to be in this life. Or try self employment if you have great ideas and the spirit to take a risk and of course some dosh ( funds and grants, princes trust etc)? just a few ideas, but be the best you can be ..your young and the world is your oyster, it's all too easy to loose hope and end up doing nothing!!!!!!

good luck reach for the stars! they wont come to you.

StudentOfLife agony auntI saw "How do I get a job?" I was like ... hmmm that kind of question in a love site? Must he as a woman who's getting lots of money out of him (haha).

The first job is usually the hardest one to find (where to look?)..

CV? Yeah it's good to have one, hard to put something of value on it when it's your first job.

A good thing to do, give your cv or whatever document to the boss, give him a hell of a handshake and look him straight in the eyes.

I care agony auntfirst off you need to get up and motivate yourself to do better everyday and give your future a chance secondly I would contact places like the unemployment centre in your area and look through their job banks and get resumes with your skills done up and start handing them out. Be sure to dress properly like dress pants and a nice shirt and dress shoes not sneekers.Your presentation is a big key to landing a job.A key tip is to drop resumes off in the early morning employers can then take time to see you and this way if they want to start you right a way they can. Good Luck and all the best.

birdynumnums agony auntSure!

There are plenty of website to tell you how to prepare a CV. Make sure that you have two or three references, job OR character, that a potential employer could call. Run your CV by as many people that you trust and respect in order to do a thorough check before you start sending it out.

DON'T GET DISCOURAGED.

It's a tough job market out there, all over (I live in the U.S., but I have children in England and Canada...) and you will have to send out at least 100, and that's just to start. There are plently of job search sites on the web too, but you are absolutely right when you talked about friends and family. That's one of the best ways to find a potential job! Don't forget agencies and temp agencies!

Good Luck to everyone out there searching for work!
