A male age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I think i am always right and whoever proves that what i have been thinking was wrong hurts my ego badly to the extent that i kind of have a grudge on the person and can't let it go, especially i am emotionally close to them. Please advice.

A reader, anonymous, writes (1 March 2007):

Why are you taking other people's thoughts and differing opinions, so personally. Less ego more confidence and a more open mind is needed. Always be willing to learn from what others tell you. I had a family member like this and she was always 'angry' at everyone. Because she didn't understand that other's had the right to disagree with her. I viewed her behaviors as a form of 'passive control'. And people who need to do this, usually have to work on self-esteem. She was bright and had great opinions. But, when anyone told her an opposing point of view..she literally went into meltdown. It took her years to finally understand that respect for what others had to say was important and that their thoughts counted, as well. She also realized that her worthiness came from within, not from whether others agreed with her or not. The art of debate only works when one keeps that open mind and understand that others have very differing, diverse, strong opinions of their own and you need to not take their opinions, sooo personally. Keep expressing your thoughts but remain patient and understanding. And realize 'not everyone is going to think you are right'. Accept that sometimes, people..even those who love you and the ones you love-have a mind and express their thoughts in their own way. Just a change of attitude and a good sense of well-being and confidence is needed. Good luck dear.

A female reader, nicola79 United Kingdom +, writes (1 March 2007):

nicola79 agony auntHA HA, im a bit the same as you,I like to be right and if im wrong I hate the fact that I have to say sorry, but I do. I live up to my star sign (scorpio).

Im not being nasty saying this so please dont think I am but people may start resenting you for it,they may start to avoid you. Just bite the bullet and either dont get in to a conversation where they will be a lot of disagrement or take a deep breath in and say SORRY I WAS WRONG, it will be hard but I would rather do that then my friends avoid me.(sorry for spellings by the way)

I hope things get better for you flower. xxxxxxxxxxxx
