I think what you can do in this situation is maybe try 2 explain what you said about your drunken state and completely lessen your drinking in order 2 make her understand that you are really feeling sorry! If she's not taking your calls, just send a text message but don't expect an immediate reply! She's probably angry and shocked right now! Give her some time and just wait and watch and at the same time do work on this drinking issue!

 i would not go back to a guy who ahd hit me. unless he had a strong enough excuse, you being drunk at the time could just persuade her but the fact is.. what if you got drunk again and hit her again? thats what she will be thinking. limit your drink to save your relationship, every relationship you have (friends and family). you can still drink. juts dont get drunk.

reader, anonymous, writes (30 October 2008): I'll tell you what took you that night - alcohol. The demon drink. You probably can't get her back unless she's a glutton for punishment, and you might have trouble remaining friends with your friends.
Some people exhibit very aggressive traits when drunk, and you appear to be one of them. Maybe you have a suppressed violent personality which only shows itself after a few bevvies.
The least you could do is apologise profusely, send her flowers and chocolates and beg forgiveness. Don't be surprised if she throws them into the trash can though.
I'm sure you don't need me to advise you to drink sensibly from now on. Learn your lesson, and seek some anger management counselling.

reader, anonymous, writes (30 October 2008): Well, the truth is once you start hitting a woman, its likely you'll do it again and you'll be so sorry after doing it. But if you are sure it was a one time thing, you'll need to prove to her that it wont. Use the fact that you were drunk and didnt know what came over you. Try not to get drunk as well cos you might just do it again if you do. You could talk to a member of a family or a friend whom she has regard for. That works most times. Good luck
