reader, anonymous, writes (17 December 2009): Im actually impressed you care, that is true responsability of your part, most situations I've read about, guys are sleeping with younger people, and same for girls, all because their "attracted" to each other, I see your point, and it is hard to tell someone to leave you alone if you don't like them, In this case, she's obviously 13 as you say, she is still too young to actually get attached to you, even if she thinks she is, this feeling she has for you will eventually grow out of her, and soon she will start getting interested in other guys her age, and such and such, maybe the best would be to talk to her about it, and let her now that you don't like her, and you know she will find someone else she will really like, or tell her you have a gf, even if you don't, either way the fact of just saying anything in a nice way is good enough. You can't hide the fact tho, that when you like someone, and they tell you otherwise, it's going to hurt. But take your time, and let her know whats really going on here, about age difference, and your feelings towards her. Hopefully she will understand, and the world won't end. Anywho I wish you best of Luck on this!

 Tell her she is a great girl ( yes, use the word girl, cause that is what she is) but that you are too old for her and she is too young for you.

Tell her softly that though you are flattered, you can't go out with her because she's just too young and you could get into trouble.

reader, anonymous, writes (5 December 2009): Just tell her you think she is a great person but the age gap is too big (especially considering how young she is). In the US, you could potentially get in trouble for messing around with her, so if the laws are similar, you could add that as well.And kudos to you for trying to be so nice to her about it. Alot of guys probably wouldn't care.
