Help! I've been hanging out with my ex's best friend and now my ex has called. Do I call him back?

I recently got dumped by this guy i was seeing. We only dated for a few months but I got really attached. It started off slow, casual dating. We had the talk about not seeing other people and he expressed that he would be jealous if I did. everything was great until his best friend commited suicide and then he started acting wierd. It wasn't long after that that he broke up with me. During the relationship I became good friends with his best friend. We continued to hang out even after the break up and just didn't advertise it to my ex. About a week ago he found out we were hanging out. He always said he still wanted to hang. So he called me two nights ago telling me that he saw that I was talking to his friend and that made him think about me and miss me. I haven't called him back, it's been two days, but my question now is do I send him a text message to let him know that I didn't call because I figured he was drunk dialing?
