writes:I love my girlfriend so much, but my gut tells me she might be doing something behind my back. Recently she confessed that at one point she was confused on her orientation. Prior to this I had my suspicions, which came true. In the last month she asked me what would i do if she told me that she was cheating on me and was going to leave and never wanted to see me again. Then she said it again, both times saying it"Out of the blue." One time when she was looking at her text messages i saw "How is ..." ... is her boss at work, which she quickly erased, this was a text i assume from maybe a coworker. Lastly, ok not really lastly since there are alot of little things, but we agreed to meet somewhere and she left me a voice message. On this message the first word is "Shhh" as if she's telling someone to be quiet. When i asked her about this she dismissed it as just her breathing. I love her and want to marry her, but we live several miles apart. Please help me overcome my paranoia.

reader, anonymous, writes (20 September 2010): I'd be suspicious. "Hypothetical" questions like that usually mean the person iwants/i to cheat, or they iare/i cheating. Either way, not as hypothetical a question as they'd like you to believe. The "Shh" isn't a great sign either. The text... I don't know what context it was in when you found it, but that could just be someone asking about her boss.

My gut tells me something is going on as well. I always find the 'what you do if I was cheating" question very suspicious. And that bit about the 'SShhh' and her dismissing it as breathing it also suspicious. But you don't have enough to prove anything. So you'll have to do some digging before you do. Get every fact straight before you confront her. With any luck, it will all be innocent. But usually when someone asks the 'what would you do I cheated' questions, something it wrong
