He said goodbye to me, but then told me I hadn't seen the last of him...what should I do?

A female United Kingdom age 26-29, anonymous writes:

So, I've had a crush on my best friend for about 5 years. When I first started liking him he went out with my best friend at the time and she told him that I liked him. But I never knew he knew.

Anyway he forgot all about it and recently we've been getting a lot closer, he walks me home from work even though he doesn't work with me, he went on a walk with me and kept holding on to my hand and then when I was about to go home he hugged me (he never hugs anyone) then I didn't see him for two weeks and he had been visiting his girlfriend in Ireland and he came to see me when he got back but he was really distance.

He stopped waiting for me. Then a couple of days ago I quit my job (he works quite close to my building) and he said to me as I was walking home I guess this is goodbye then.. I later looked in my diary and he had wrote you haven't seen the last of me. Which doesn't make sense. So I was just wondering what should I do,

A female reader, aunt honesty Ireland +, writes (30 May 2011):

aunt honesty agony auntYou have had a crush on this guy for five years? You poor girl that really is a long time. I feel for you I really do. Your best friend told him a long time ago that you liked him, but if I am honest you say now that he has a girlfriend therefore in my opinion the best thing to do is to keep your distance until you hear that he is available again. No good will come out of you chasing after another girls boyfriend, plus if he is willing to cheat on her with you well then he cannot be trusted in the future.

I think the best thing that you can do is accept that he is with someone else and look at him as a friend and nothing else. If it comes to a day where him and his girlfriend are over well then maybe you can make a move but not while he is in a relationship. Good Luck.
