I don't know what to how could I find out if he is lying as I don't see him that often. everytime I ask him something he laughs, my confidence is really getting affected by this. what should I do? thank you

Yep, he is getting it elsewhere. I'm sorry to say but it sounds like he is having sex with you when he is bored and have nothing better to do.
IF you are not getting anything out of this "fwb" then end it.
And at 36 I'm betting you his sex drive is still pretty high.

 Yes, I do think this man is going elsewhere. Since it is a "FWB" type arrangement, well you really dont have cause to question him.... There is no exclusive relationship between you... you are just convenient to him when he cant get sex from whoever else he is seeing.
Personally, I think you are wasting your time with this man.
