Ex crossing the line-needs to back off!

Question - (11 December 2008) 3 Answers - (Newest, 12 December 2008)
A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I've been having some trouble with an ex. We started talking again, though only online, and I try to make it clear that I'm not going to get back together with him. I've asked him not to ask me out again but he keeps crossing the line with his comments. Once, I mentioned that I had this big paper to work on and he said "well, how about I help you with it over a romantic dinner?" We talked through some stuff after that and he hasn't made a suggestion like that since but then he just sort of crossed the line today. He made a few kind of inappropriate comments, suggesting intimacy that he had no right in suggesting. If anyone else is on facebook, we were on there when we were talking. There's this application called superpoke and it has these actions like "throw a sheep at" and "bake a cake with". He was talking about how there were some strange ones like "fling a thong at". He said, "who would I fling a thong at?" I replied that I didn't know, just don't fling it at me. He replied with, "I would keep them until you came and picked them up. I wouldn't throw them at you."

First off, we only dated for about a week and the closest thing to anything intimate was hand holding. I told him that he was crossing the line, but I don't think he's gotten it through his thick skull that I want him to stop making comments like that even in joking. What do I do? I want to try to remain friends, but is this just too much?

Hi, this is the original poster of this question. I just wanted to inform everyone that I've blocked the ex. I tried being friends with him, thinking I was being too mean by just ignoring him. It seemed as if every time I explained something clearly though, he picked out the words he wanted to hear and never got it through his thick skull. I sent him a message before completely blocking him, telling him sorry and that we just weren't compatible as friends or anything more. I am NOT letting him back into my life.

Block him on msn, see if he gets the message. Ignore him on facebook - or send him a message making it REALLY REALLY clear what you want and if he doesn't then you're going to have to get rough. If he doesn't get the hint he is either desperate or just a complete twozzack!

Honeygirl agony auntSweetie, you need to cut ties with this guy. Stop chatting to him on the internet and move on with your life. Sounds like he is one of those types of men that cannot be a friend to a woman he has to be more intimate.
