 Your ego could be part of the reason. Confidence is attractive, but not outright conceit. Has he directly told you he's not interested in you in that way? If not, why not talk to him about what you're feeling?

this depends on how high his own self confidence levels are. maybe he feels since you are so popular etc that you ar out of his league and he may prefer some one more on his level.
also ask yourself why out of all of them, he, the one who is not chasing you is the one you want. maybe you just fancy the challenge and once you have got him you may lose interest. think about your motive. maybe he sees this as your reason in which case he is not gonna want to get involved with you.
all the above is speculation though. if you realy want answers you need to communicate with HIM
