A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

Okay, My guy friend and me have been great friends since 7th grade, we're in 9th grade now. Well, just this past summer I got his number and we started texting. Not during the day, like I'd text him at 2 am or some stuff like that. We'd text alot, and we got closer. We'd talk on myspace a lot too. We had awkard conversations, normal conversations, crazy conversations, etc. We even told stuff to each other, that I think only close friends would say to one another. But I felt close enough to him to tell him.

But just this 9th grade year he got a gf, which I'm very happy for him. But ever since he got his gf, he stopped textin me back, or evn smilin at me at school or look at me. It feels like he's ignoring me. Just today though, I was hangin with my best friend who is his best friend and his gf wasn't there, for some reason Idk. Today he looked at me everytime he said something funny and everyone else laughed, he'd look at me for no reason, he even spoke to me too and smiled. Then when I had to go I said bye to everyone, and he actually said bye. But,see the only other times I see him, he's not with his gf, cause Its during school. I dont know why he did this today. I don't want to lose my friend. He is my only close guy firend, and it would suck If I lost him. Please help. Should I just give up on tryin to keep our friendship together?

Thank you.

A male reader, Cerberus_Raphael Sweden +, writes (2 November 2010):

Cerberus_Raphael agony auntTalk to him about it. Is it possible he has stronger feelings towards you? Perhaps that is why he feels he can look at you and smile at you and talk to you when his girlfriend is not around. If that is the case, depending on how you feel about him, do not encourage him, he has to make a choice because it is not fair to either one of you.

That is the only reason I can think of that would cause him to behave this way at any rate.

I hope that helps.
