A male United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

I'm 14 and on the ending stretch of my 8th grade year. I really like this girl and she is really nice to me and I Am nice back. I was thinking about asking her out but I'm black and she's white. I don't have a problem with white people all of my closest friends are white. I just want to know what a white girl will think about a black guy. Your answers are appreciated

Gabrielle Stoker agony auntIt's never mattered to me, thats for sure :)

You won't know until you ask. And if she isn't interested, it's her loss. Move on. Most girls I've known are color-neutral.

It shouldn't matter. But if it does, then you'll know that she's not the one for you. I say ask her anyway.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (28 January 2011):

Don't EVER think you don't have a chance at ANYTHING because of the color of your skin. EVER. It has nothing to do with anything.

In terms of dating there may be people who have preferences, but that's on them. Live and love the way you want, and if people don't like it, fine, but don't let it change who you are and how you live.

Ask that girl out because you like her and are interested. If she says no because you are black, then she was NOT the right woman for you and NOT good friend material either. No regrets!

I say go for it because if you don't you'll never know. Put rejection in the back of your mind because it probably won't matter after 8th grade anyway.

I would go for it because if you don't you'll never know. Some people don't like interracial dating and stuff like that but I'd date a black guy and I'm white.

If she dose not say yes and i was a few years younger i would say YESSS. If she is a real person it wats in the in side not the out side or colours.

It doesn't matter... all you need to do is be confident of who you are and be nice to her. Haven't you seen biracial couples around? Its all about love, okay? So now start being confident, black or white... we are all people. Good-luck

Milagros18 agony auntyou don't loose anything by asking, if you like her and want to be with her then go for it. She might like you too. Love isn't a color. Race doesn't matter when you love someone. Good luck(:
