What I would like to know is - why is this important to you? Are you ashamed of your virginity?Any guy who fails to respect and cherish a virgin girlfriend is completely undeserving.

Penii? LOL "satindesire" you are so funny darlin'. ! I love it. You are certainly thinking, but penises is indeed the correct plural. Meanwhile, I see that my response to the young lady's question skirted the point. As you suggested, sometimes it is difficult to know whether a girl is a virgin, as I fondly recall, unless she bleeds a little. Almost all young women are very tight. In my early experience, during high school, it was difficult to otherwise feel much of a difference, but a sign of blood on the penis was certainly an indication.

It depends on the person.
Not all women are born with hymens, and the hymen can also be broken during sports, dancing, tampon insertion and horseback riding, etc, so the hymen is not necessarily always there to break during the first penetration.
Vaginas are much like penises, (penii? Hah! Okay, sorry, I'm a nerd...) in the way that everyone has a different size. Big and small, much like the penis women all have different size vaginas.
It's common for the inexperience and hesitation during sex to mark a person a virgin, however, it takes literally YEARS to 'get good' at sex and inexperience and ignorance isn't necessarily telling if a person is a virgin or not. Some people are just too shy to talk about sex (even though they can DO it, they can't TALK about it...makes no sense to me, but whatever!) and can go from partner to partner never learning anything because they feel too embarrassed to speak up about sex.
In other words, sometimes you can tell if a person is a virgin and sometimes you can't. The best thing to do in ANY situation is communicate and be honest. Instead of trying to guess, just ask.

This is an ambiguous situation. It was quite a while back for me, but yes, penile penetration with a virgin usually begins slightly difficult, and due to her fairly tight vagina in most cases, can be difficult to consummate from the male perspective. He should, however, be very easy rather than too forceful.
In fact, once the hymen is breached, it may be advisable for a considerate man to withdraw and discontinue if she experiences too much pain. Such would be preferable, because she will be more likely to provide subsequent access after she heals, and it will then be considerably less painful for her. A good mate thinks about the girl above his personal lust.
