Hello, this is one for the Aunts.

I have been using a basic razor for all hair removals and occansionally I use hair removal creams.

Do any of you girls have better suggestions for a softer, cleaner, longer lasting shave for legs, underarm hair and the bikini line?

I've heard baby oil being mentioned but I have never tried it or any other oils for that matter.

My legs are not too bad for shaving, my underarm hair always grows back very fast and I like to shave my pubic hair all off but of course that grows back extremely fast too. I'd love some suggestions. I have tried waxing once but I was a bit of an airy fairy when it came to that!

Thank you

shrodingerscat agony auntYou need to visit a professional to get waxed. It's much less painful because they've been trained how to do it quickly and gently.

Doing it yourself is just asking for trouble!

Baby oil won't soften your hair much, as oils technically cannot moisturize because oils contain no water, and only water moisturizes. Oils CAN, however, create a waterproof barrier between your skin/hair and the air, trapping any water that was in your skin/hair inside and preventing it from evaporating.

person12345 agony auntI stopped getting rid of my pubic hair and started trimming it neatly, that made it much softer. Itchy when it's growing out, but once it is it's much nicer.

Leg hair, I don't really have much of any so I can't offer much advice. I just let the like 10 or so hairs that are visible grow.

Underarms, exfoliate well (do not use St. Ives, it will tear your skin up terribly over time) and then shave with a sharp razor.

So_Very_Confused agony auntyou are trying to wax yourself? umm NO... never good... maybe on lower legs but the rest of you sometimes you need three hands.

since once you start waxing the hair grows back slower and slower you can go many weeks between waxings... I strongly recommend it if you can afford it for Bikini and pubic region... also always wax your face...

if not an option, I recommend using hair conditioner as your shave cream... slather it on in the shower, let it soak in for a minute or two then shave... stubble will happen but I find that a quick whisk over all my areas in the shower every morning keeps the stubble away.

You should try waxing again but bear in the mind that there are different types of waxes available...Shaving is the worst hair removal method for areas like bikini line and armpits...I only shave my legs and have my eyebrows, upper lip, armpit and bikini line waxed and I go to a place specialized in waxing ONLY called " Unikwax" - there is another place in my area called " European Wax" which is equally good...google these places and find out how the waxing is done...For me the key was to go only to a specialized place where the staff is trained to work with different types of hair in different body parts...it is uncomfortable in the beginning but w/time as your skin adapts to it , it gets way better- but once you start waxing you shouldn't shave again...it lasts way longer than creams/razors...Good luck!
