Hi Miamime

Thanks for your open response, you say you can't see where the problem is, and that I see danger and you see none.

I am sensitive :) not to myself but to others.

A female reader, Miamine United Kingdom +, writes (31 August 2010):

Miamine agony auntSigh, sorry spunky monkey, people on the internet always seem so sensitive about my words. I wrote my answer without looking at yours, so no offence was meant.

I was just thinking back to when I was 16 and what my room looked like. I was also thinking of the young women and men in my family. They seem to have tons of class, whereas I didn't care what my room looked like. I know exactly the effect she wants, because that's what my 16year old cousins do.

They have no problems taking sophisticated pictures of themselves, for themselves. In their world they like everything to look sophisticated and cool. In Britain, they wouldn't ask their parents, and their parents wouldn't dare interfere if they wanted to hang pictures on their wall. The only discussion that would take place is "mum would you help me choose some clothes"..

The teenagers in your life seem very different from the teenagers I know. My friend at school had a big blow up picture with her posing as a model when she was 14, right in the middle of her sitting room. Then again in Britain, we have girls in our newspapers who are allowed to pose naked from 16 with their parents permission.. So to tell the truth, after reading back on the answers given, I can't see what the problem is.

Especially since the age of consent in Canada was previously 14. I don't know why this girl would lie. Her question is similar to "should I cut my hair, or should do boys like girls in make up". She is a teenager and just doesn't want to seem vain or make a fool of herself.

Sorry you took my advice wrong and felt the need to respond. Everyone comes from different worlds and has different cultures and backgrounds, you see danger, but I see none. If she was in the UK she would be able to have the professionally done for free. We have a company that does that for women they make back their money by getting you to buy more pictures. Boudoir pictures are very popular over here and get put in the front room for everyone to see.

Wonder if the girl asked her parents or other family members the same question, And if they said 'yes go do it'...wonder why she asked cupid agony aunts , especially as the photo's are not going to be nude or ever seen by anyone?

Yep! far better than any poster :) and classier:) MEOW!

I will say once again just be carefull and i still do not believe they are for you only! So you go for it and bring the pics out of the dusty box in years to come...the ones with your clothes on that you took yourself.

I am not fooled that easy and i hope you won't be.

You sound like you have good sense, I think this is a nice idea. My grandmother used to be a model back in the early 1940s when she was about 20, and I absolutely LOVE the photos that she still has from back then. They truly are classy- she is always dressed in a suit with impeccable make-up and hair- and they are a wonderful record. Your grandchildren will really appreciate this sort of thing.

You need to put a bit of thought into how you are going to take the pics. I would 100% recommend you use a decent camera on a trip if you can. Really I would say that a DSLR is the best way to go; if you are interested in photography you might already have one. I bought mine used and it's been the best money I've spent in the last few years. You can get some good deals on used ones. Get a good portrait lens and have a play around with it. There are lots of online resources for digital photography so you will find a lot of suggestions for tips and tricks. With a camera like this you can also get a remote which will help you take pics of yourself. Then you can process them in Photoshop (quite reasonably priced if you are a student) to really get that professional look.

Miamine agony auntGreat idea... cousin told me of a trick, hold the camera right above your head to get that sophisticated look. You could also ask your mother to take them. I think your going for the classy Hollywood model look, yep, far better than any poster. Talk to your mother or sister (if you have one) they might be able to help you to get the professional look you want.

C. Grant agony auntI think it's a brilliant idea. You will be *so* glad to have those photos later on in life. Imagine showing them to your husband on your 25th wedding anniversary -- he'll be thrilled.

Your replies show that you have good sense, so you're not going to do anything that gets you into trouble. Go for it!

Sounds Good innocence is rare and IF these innocent pictures end up in the wrong hands or on face book etc remember you were warned.

I don't retract anything i said earlier.

I agree you should never be ashamed of your body and i can say, i never was ashamed of my body either at 16 or now and have had exotic/ erotic / glamour/ sexual/innocent/ artistic/pictures taken and videos and enjoyed every bit of it, and there is nothing wrong with this but if they get into wrong hands you'll know about it, and that is all we are trying to warn you about because you are so young. It's ofay been the free spirited sexually uninhibited woman of today unafraid of her body but the reality is some young girls lives are taken down the wrong path by WRONG PEOPLE.

Assuming mr Universal Man is assuming that i am assuming i am assuming and so are you assuming. I would hazard a guess that the fact that the young girl even asked the question in the first place could mean their could be an undertone to it...if you are a free spirit you don't need to ask for reassurance you would just do it. So do it if this is what you want and i wish you luck but be safe :) some girls are seduced by promises of modeling career,s, some even end up dead FOR GOODNESS SAKE all because some perv gets into the innocent mind of a young girl and they meet up with them in secret to do a photo shoot GET STREET WISE before the free spirit stuff.

On my walls, oh yes I am going to put them on my walls ... and I am talking bout taking them myself. Not in lingerie. But I like that style of a lot of them. And no no one told me about them I am just really into different types of photography and found some of that type to be very beautiful. Why shouldn't I embarrass my body? I am not scared of it. Yes i don't want other people to see it but I love my body.

I do tend to wait till I am of legal age to do an actual shoot.

Something very classy, and NOT TRASHY, So I can look back at them 50 years from now and remind my self that at any age your body is beautiful. Why is that so wrong?

I don't know why people are assuming that a) someone else is going to take these pictures, or b) they are going up on her wall. She's 16-17... she's probably going to use a self-timer on her point-n-shoot, for goodness sake.

Yes, sweetie, take all the pictures of yourself that you want. Girls your age do this. Lots of them end up on the Internet, but you're going to be smarter than that, and here's how: Buy a separate memory card for your camera, take pictures to your heart's content, and then take that memory card and put it somewhere very safe.

There is nothing wrong with this. "Trashy and narcissistic"? That's just silly.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (29 August 2010):

Hi

I think you should wait until you are older. WHO IS GOING TO TAKE THESE PICTURES?

Would you not rather have a poster of some hunk on your wall like favorite movie star, you don't need a picture of yourself, that's if it is for yourself????? You could get into trouble and your boyfiend if it's for him, or somebody you have met who is telling you about boudoir Classy photo's. Sounds very dodgy to me and are you really 16 ? You are so young and of course nothing wrong with this type of photo but there IS when you are young. have you met somebody who is asking to take these pictures?

be very carefull and don't be sucked in by someone telling you they will make you a model. What will your family think of these Boudoir pics on your wall? If you ignore the advice and go ahead DO NOT MEET THE PERSON ON YOUR OWN to have the photos taken go with an ADULT mum or dad and let them decide if it is safe.

I think it is WRONG don't do it!

I don't know what you could actually consider as classy about them. Trashy and narcissistic maybe. Why take photos of yourself posing in a sexually provocative way for your own benefit?

A male reader, Frank B Kermit Canada +, writes (29 August 2010):

Frank B Kermit agony auntBecause of the intent behind such photos (to be sexual stimulating), it would be illegal given that you are still a minor.

If you do the photos yourself, you could be charged with creation and possession of child porn. If you show it to anyone, you could be charged with distribution.

This has already happened to young girls who take nude pics of themselves to send to the guys they like. The girls get charged.

Wait until you are legally considered an adult.

Why would you want lingeriesque photos just for you? You're only sixteen so the photographer taking the photos would either be a pervert or make you cover up completely , why not wait later till your older and do ut for a longterm boyfriedn?

A female reader, tennisstar88 United States +, writes (29 August 2010):

tennisstar88 agony auntBoudoir photography are soft an sensual photos and they usually require you to be of legal age before doing a shoot. They can be revealing but they don't have to..you can do more of the glamour shot with the makeup and teased, retro glam styled hair. I would go that route and not be revealing. Are you taking these photos for anyone in particular such as a boyfriend?
