I'm in the same boat you are, I am 5'5 and I desperately wanted to be taller. But in reality my height is perfect. I can find pants in any store, my arms aren't so long I can't find decent shirts. And it's true men tend to lean towards shorter women, 'cause look at models most of them date men who are shorter than they are, because not a lot of men are extremely tall. So really be thankful, I'm starting to be. And I've found a few tricks on the way. Standing up straight, building my muscles, pilates and yoga don't hurt either. And most people don't believe me when I say that I am 5'5 mainly because of how I carry myself. ^_^ but it still is a bummer especially coming from a father who is 6'8 and a mother who is/was 5'9. It really goes to genetics in the end. Remember it's not just your parent's genes you're getting, you've got generations upon generations of genetics deciding what you'll look like.

bonym agony auntMy dear I wish I was 5"4 thats a gorgeous height. I am 5"7 or 8 and which I was shorter!!! Be happy with the way God has made you, if He wanted you to be taller you would be/ As Dr Pete rightly said we always want to change ourselves! I have naturally curly hair, but I prefer to have it chemically straightened, I wish I was shorter in height, was a curvier uk size 14 instead of a toned size uk 10 a lot prettier etc etc. But at the end of the day I am ME. No one else is ME and I am happy with that!!!!! xXx

It's sad you want to be taller, it really is. Too many of us want to be different, straight hair people want it curly, curly straight, tall short, blonde brunette.

5.4 is a great height, and personally speaking I usually go for girls around that height, if not shorter.

Look yourself in the mirror and say "I look great!" and really try to mean it.. be proud of who you are :)

Don't worry girl. You should be happy with your height. I'm 4'10 and I'm 18. I'm so tiny and it's a drag there are some cute guys that I would go out with and I know they would want to go out with me too but the whole being 6-6'2 doesn't work for me and just makes things awkward

I'm afraid there isnt much you can do to make yourself taller! There is a very painfull op you could have done but you would have to have it privately and I would serioulsy not recommend it! (it involves breaking your legs and then attaching a metal frame around them which you gradually lengthen each day) It sounds paintfull and it is! Plus you would be left with scars from where the metal rods go through you skin and you'll prob only gain an inch in height! - easier to wear heels dont you think ;)

As for your brother being taller, well yes, your non-identical twins, basically you and your brother may be classed as twins as you were born at the same time, but genetically you are like a normal brother and sister, each with your own idvidual genetic make-up, hence why you are not the same height! :) - just finished my degree in genetics so thought i'd throw that in there!

I'm nearly 6ft and wish I was smaller lol! I cant wear heels as I just tower over everyone and feel uncoftable and my BF is the same height as me too - not really a prob but another reason I Dont like wearing heels! try and think about some good things about being your height and focus on them! :) (I like being tall for the fact I can see over crowds and find people easy - oh and can see over peoples heads at the cinema too!)

Good Luck!

Wendyg agony auntHi there! Well im 5ft 4 and its not done me any harm! I dont consider it small, its about average height. I think we officially stop growing around the age of 21 though, so you might grow a bit more yet! But dont worry, at least your closer to the ground! Men are meant to be taller anyway and as hes maybe not an identical twin, could explain why hes a bit taller. Why do you want to be so tall anyway ? Least you can wear high heels if you want, and wont have trouble getting jeans to fit as your average size! Chill out about your height there are far worse things, dont worry about being an average size no ones going to look at you in a different way, as height doesnt make a person.

DrPsych agony auntAt 17 I was about 5ft 7 but I grew an inch or so by the age of 21. Technically your body doesn't stop growing until you complete your teen years but it varies between person too - your genes tend to dictate how tall you will be. I wouldn't worry about being 5ft 4 as that is an average height for women. If you are really worried about it then you should focus on your posture as many teenage girls get a bit round shouldered as their bodies start to change. If your head is straight up then you will look taller, and of course you could wear shoes with heels. To maintain bone health and stop you shrinking in later life (many older women get osteoporosis) you should try to avoid carbonated drinks, and make sure you get enough calcium down your neck...milk etc to help to support your bone structure. Exercise is supposed to be good for maintaining your height too as you firm up the muscle structures around the bones.

5'4 is a great height for a girl, just perfect I'd say! And to be honest sweetie you will have stopped growing age 17 so you need to learn to live with it!
