JTalbott agony auntA dear friend of mine in your situation chose to give her child to a home that was ready and able to care for it. I deeply admire the selfless decision she made for the best interests of her child.

Whatever decision you make I wish you all the best.

The backaches suggest that it could be a urinary tract infection. I thought that I was pregnant last month and had the exact same symptoms as you but they did a urine test at the doctors and it ended up being that.

SO! Go to your doctor!

You could also be sick but you should make sure as soon as possible.

*Fingers Crossed for no baby* Good luck.

brooke5426 agony auntim on the pill too and like you, i sometimes forget to take it, which is hella bad cos they tell you to take one a day for a reason - they dont tell you to take one every few days or one when you feel like it. so yeah its very possible you're pregnant. no point thinking too far ahead though - do the test and see what the results are, then come up with a plan of action.

birdynumnums agony auntGet an over the counter test NOW. Use your first Pee of the morning. Read the instructions carefully. If you're not sure about the results, tell your Mom. You might be scared, but she loves you and she will help you. Good Luck.

A female reader, brooke5426 United Kingdom +, writes (15 December 2007):

brooke5426 agony aunttheres no way to know for definite unless you do a test. it could be that you're pregnant, it could be that you are about to have your period. you dont say if your period is late or if you have missed any so unless you do a test, its hard to say because they both have very similar symptoms.

its really important that you find out soon, if you are pregnant, ignoring it wont make it go away. You really will only be making things harder for yourself. If you are, then you need to tell your parents - i know, i know the thought of that terrifies you but once they get over the initial shock they will help you. they love you more than anyone else in the world and want whats best for you.

but really, theres no point going through all the what ifs and what should i do's until you know for sure. Pregnancy tests are quite expensive here in the UK - about £10 and if you cant afford that at your age then see your doctor for a test for free. Take it from there, if you are pregnant, come back and we'll help you come up with a plan of action on what to do next and how to tell people.

and dont worry about what people at school say - its your life and none of their business. Give me a pm if you want a chat.

all the best babe

A female reader, missmel34 Australia +, writes (14 December 2007):

missmel34 agony auntSweetie,

Firstly, it may or may not be. As women we do tend to have these frights from time to time. Go to the supermarket/chemist and buy a pregnancy test kit. You will be able to test yourself at home, get a friend to go with you, after all thats what best friends are for. It may very well be nothing. Your period may just simply be late and you have a virus.

Having said that, I know you feel like your Mum is going to freak, and she very well might. But she loves you and only wants the best for you. If you are pregnant you do have options if you get onto it early enough. If you simply ignore things, then you lose options. At such a young age, you really need to keep all your options open, so please speak to your mum.

Finally, there are a few sure ways not to be stuck in this situation again. Leave having sex till you're a bit older, or if you do insist on having it, go on the pill and use a condom.....I know 2 lots of contraceptive. But, using the 2 together means you will have almost a zero chance of getting pregnant and the condom will protect you from lots of bad illnesses. You might not think they are around but they are. Never have sex with a guy if he won't use one...NEVER. If he doesn't want to look after your health he doesn't care about you.

Good Luck sweetie.

A female reader, pgissyd United Kingdom +, writes (14 December 2007):

pgissyd agony auntHave you had your period? if not then your probably pregant, get to the chemists for a test, there is no age limit on preganacy tests, if your worried about anyone who knows you seeing you, go to a large town for one. if you are pregas then get to the docs quick sharp! Dont mess around, the longer you leave it, the less you can do about it.
