Are these signs he's planning to propose?

me and my fella have been together for 9 months now, we tell eachother everyday how much we love eachother, we do everything together, have alot of fun. hes my best friend aswell as my lover. thing is hes brought me a lovely ring for christmas which i loved (wasnt an engagment ring)but he turnt and said to me if getting engaged was what i wanted then he would but i just laughed it off thinking he was joking... and the other day while we was out shopping he stopped and started looking at engagment rings in the shop window, he stopped and stared for about 2 minutes then we walked on he had a strange look on his face...hes also been looking at my hands alot saying how nice they are, the other night we was watching tv and someone was getting married and he turnt and said to me "do you want a white horse carriage when you get married". are these signs that hes planning to purpose?... my birthday is coming up soon and hes planned my birthdy already but its a suprise so i dont know what hes up to but people have said i will love the suprise and it will make me cry tears of happiness... now i have this crazy idea that maybe hes planning to get down on one knee, maybe im wrong im not sure, what do you think? any advice would be helpful. xx
