I'm 5' feet tall, I recently lost weight ( and continue to do so in a healthy way) I went from 170 to 150 in four months, eating healthy food and going to gym, since January of this year. I am wondering if I will need surgery to remove any fat flab? Is there away to avoid surgery? Eating certain foods, doing certain exercises? No miracle drugs or potions please, I can't afford them! Thank you!!

Honeypie agony auntWeight training can help with some of the excess skin. Losing 20 lbs in 4 months is not what I would consider unhealthy.

Talk to a trainer at the gym about the areas that concern you the most.

However it will take at least 6-8 months to tighten up skin and not all will bounce back, it really depends on your age and skin type, body fat and so forth. Since you are young I think you got a good chance of avoiding "the flab".

supermum agony auntIf you have excess skin, unfortunately there is nothing you can do to remove it other than surgery. Since giving birth to my daughter, i have had the same problem. I have learned to live with it now, and it doesnt bother me so much, but without surgery, once you have it, the only way to get rid of it is to put the weight back on which wouldnt be good. Sorry i cant give you better news babe

Cotton223 agony auntFirst of all congratulations on losing all that weight the healthy way (exercise + diet). As the others have said you shouldn't have to worry about excess skin, your dropping 5lbs per month which is a very healthy rate. If you are still concerned i would combine some weight lifting into your workout plan if you already haven't done so. if you go to a gym focus on the machines that isolate a particular muscle, once you build up your strength on those you can start using free weights (dumbbells etc) this will have the effect of toning your muscles and might just tighten up your body. always choose an intensity you feel comfortable with so you don't injure yourself. if your unsure where to start just google weight lifting plans im 100% sure you will find something that fits your needs.

Good Luck!

Accountable agony auntIt sounds like youre losing weight at a sensible rate, and are young so your skin is still pretty elastic, so you shouldnt have too much of a problem with excess skin, i don't think! :)

I lost 60 pounds VERY slowly in about a 3 year period. It didn't give me any loose skin problems.

Danielepew agony auntI'm sorry to say that, in my modest knowledge, you should NOT lose weight too fast precisely to avoid this problem.
