Hey everyone

Not sure if anyone can help but...

I've been taking the pill (microgynon) continually for about 8 weeks - you're meant to have breaks but the whole reason I went on the pill was to not have any periods whilst I was doing my finals.

Now I've stopped taking it, I wondered if anyone had any ideas how long until I could expect a period again?

I did have sex a couple of times whilst on it, and did a test which was inconclusive so I went and had a scan which couldn't find anything either... so I'm probably not pregnant but I'd just like to be sure!

Thanks!

birdynumnums agony auntIf you do want to take advantage of not having periods, then use a pill like Seasonale or another "Extended-Period" pill after discussing it with your doctor. These are made specifically for that purpose. Even though you CAN put off a period by playing around with your regular BC pills, they aren't made specifically for that purpose.

And if I were you and my period didn't come on in the next week, I would get a blood test to make sure that I wasn't truly pregnant, just to be safe.

pebble agony auntYou should get your withdrawal bleed a few days after you stop taking it, just like you normally would. It shouldn't matter how many periods you have skipped, when you stop taking it you should have your bleed.

If it's been a while and it's not arrived then you need to do another pregnancy test.

aphexinfinite agony auntok the pill is for 3 weeks then you have a 1 week period and it repeats ok its not natural to stop your period for months on end i know some do it because they cant be bothered or they dont need the stress but you should always follow the advice given with your meds. if you have continuosly taken the pill then no you shouldnt be pregnant. but in future dont abuse the pills for your own advantage its not healthy. aphex xx
