janniepeg agony auntMy water also broke in bed and that morning I had orange color mucus plug coming out. The whole day I didn't feeling like eating. I went into labor at 9:30pm. If this is your first child labor would take at least several hours. Don't panic until you have to.

Being a male, I couldn't be 100% sure. But it doesn't sound like you are. But if you're worried at all, go to the doctor.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (22 March 2010):

Well, I know that for the entire nineth month had very small contrations, like braxton hicks but more of an extented prelabor. It doesn't sound like what your having is true labor, but I would be concerned about your vaginal wall hurting. When you are in labor you know it, trust me. I've never had a baby before, and even though my water actually broke in bed, the contractions once true labor came were very intense. ( I would have known I was in labor even if my water didn't break on its own) I would get checked out anyway, especially because every woman is different. It sounds like what your describing is just your baby descending into your pelvis, but I urge you to get checked anyways and consult with your doctor, since I am not one and I would hate to be wrong if you were in labor
