Am I brotherly figure or a love interest to her?

A male United Kingdom age 30-35, *en345 writes:

I am 18 and have a crush on my 18 year old colleague. Trouble is, I am a really shy guy and don't know how to handle it. I am not sure whether she likes me or not, and would never make a move unless I was pretty sure.

We did go on a night out once with her friends, and, being a little tiddly, I ended up kissing and cuddling with her in a corner at times. I wanted to ask her out afterwards but was too scared. So now it's getting longer and longer and I don't know if she likes me. She always makes the effort to talk when we arrive at work, but I don't know if I'm a platonic friend to her.

My employers own the bar next to our restaurant, and a couple of Saturdays ago, she was serving there, and I was drinking off-duty. I had to take some fresh air after feeling sick, and I remember her stroking my hair from behind at one point, and me touching her hand. Nothing else happened because our other colleague came out to help. I don't know if she's trying to make a move.

How do girls think she feels? I am an adorable brotherly figure or a love interest?

A male reader, anonymous, writes (7 February 2012):

You went out, kissed etc. and on a later occasion she comes out of her own accord stroking your hair. She always makes an effort to talk. The signs don't get much clearer than that. That's love interest.

A female reader, PerhapsNot United States +, writes (7 February 2012):

PerhapsNot agony auntDude, you KISSED and cuddled. Unless she kissed you on your forehead or cheek, she does not see you as her brother. Would you kiss your sister like that, or would you expect a girl to kiss her brother the way she kissed you? Quit being a little pansy, grow a pair, and just ask her out already! If you continue being a shy, passive boy, you'll never get the girl you want. She is interested, just do it.
