Hi everyone. This isnt much of a problem, i just need advice. I'm going out on Sunday to some bars, but i am meeting up with my friend in the afternoon, and we may be out until the evening, and i'm not sure what to wear. I don't want to look too casual, but i don't know if i should look too dressed up either. Its hard because i wouldnt want to be dressed up in the afternoon, but i wouldnt want to be casual in the evening if you see what i mean lol. Plus it's winter, so i would have to think about being warm as well. I hope this doesn't sound silly, but i want to impress this man i like with what i'm wearing too. He might be out then as i have heard he goes out on Sundays. I also don't wear heels that much, so do you think boots are ok ?. Any advice would be great !.

Ok,i couldnt see the jeans with the long pink top so i am wearing tights with it,the knee high boots, and the leather jacket and a necklace.i need some more short dressed up tops to go with the jeans so i'll be able to wear those another time.

I've tried that outfit on and the top looks more like the length of a dress but its not a dress lol.you cant see my jeans when i'm stood up as i have some knee high boots to go with the outfit but u can see them a bit when i'm sat down lol.i'm trying to decide between that and a small white strappy top, black and white skirt and maybe leggings, tights or jeans underneath and my knee high boots.not sure if that would look too much like a summer outfit though lol.

I think that sounds like a good idea, comfortable, not too over the top, warm enough and impressive. Can't go wrong. ;)

Thanks for your replies everyone. What do you think of quite a long pink top, black skinny jeans, boots and a leather jacket, with a little necklace ?. The necklace has a heart on it. I'm not saying i will definately wear that, but it's an idea. I'm not sure whether to wear a bracelet though ?.

dmartin89 agony auntI would avoid skirts and pretty shoes. Too much fuss and bright colours can be a bit off putting.

Go with dark skinny jeans that fit well, boots over the jeans and a blouse/top with a casual blazer. Causual, comfortable, smart and sexy..

Add a delicate necklace and small dangly earings, I find small pearls make my eyes stand out and make my skin look healthier, and a spritz of your favourite purfume. Tada!

mammaboo agony auntThis seasons fashion is colour blocking so depending on your coluring size and shape go for a light weight material. Wear it loose over some skinny trousers team and accessorize with a skinny belt, heels and a necklace or earings.NOT BOTH! Make the jewelry a statement piece! For extra warmth go for a boyriend jacket all the rage this year!

A female reader, Abella United States +, writes (25 November 2011):

Abella agony auntfirst off feminine shoes always look lovelier than boots imho. the evening is likelier to be colder outside but most of the time you will be inside and warm. Perhaps a jacket with an attractive skirt and top. Show your legs (boots cover up your legs too much and with a skirt look a bit dated)

If you are going to bars then a skirt would be more fetching than pants. In the day you might like to add a long long silk/like scarf that matches your outfit.

Then in the evening discard the scarf and

change the look with a nice necklace

in the evening and maybe an interesting bracelet.

And if you want to be noticed wear a pretty Block of a feminine color like violet blue, or a tropical sea color that hints at aqua with a greeny rather than pink (which can look babyish in some circumstances) and certainly don't wear black as so many girls choose to wear.

And you need to be noticed for all the right reasons. No plunging neckline for that same reason. Discreet jewellery not traffic stopping ostentatious fakes.

White is a bit OTT and orange, red and yellow seem a bit more aggressive.

Not brown and not beige - way too boring.

Wash your hair in the morning and take your hairbrush and your makeup so you can re-do your makeup before you go out in the evening.

And a good body lotion and a good perfume so that you smell delightful.

Best wishes

aunt honesty agony auntYes I think boots are OK. I think you should just go comfortably. Maybe wear some leggings with your boots and a nice dressy top.
