Hey I would advise not doing it. Why would you want it when vaginal intercourse is so great? I have to confess that I did anal intercourse with my wife some years ago. I'm embarrassed to say it was my idea. And it was NOT pleasurable for either of us.
But if you must do it, be sure to take all the necessary precautions. First run a test using your middle finger. Lubricate it well (for example with KY jelly) and insert it slowly into her anus, pushing it in as far as possible. She may call a halt to the project right then. But if she can take your finger she will probably be all right with the penis. Next her rectal cavity should be evacuated and cleaned. And you MUST wear a condom; even a cleansed rectum has bacteria that can give you a serious infection. Apply plenty of lubricant to the condom and insert your penis in her very slowly. The best positions for her are those that distend the anal opening. Doggy style is one option. Another is with her on her back with legs in the air; as you insert push her legs back toward her head so that the anus opens up. Repeat: enter her very slowly!
Well, those are the precuations you must take if you are determined to go through with this. But please think a minute---is it worth it? Use the vagina; that is what is is there for.

 Right i've never done it, and i don't plan to but i can give you some common sense pointers - yes, it'll probably hurt, at least a little bit. and yes, use lots and lots of lubricant. definitely not an idea to do it without - ever - especially the first time. The rest.. someone else will have to tell you or u can look it up online.

reader, anonymous, writes (9 June 2008): This is a VERY tricky one- yes, its possible, but it takes a LOT of planning and a LOT of patience. Start small, like finger small, or go to the sex toy store together and pick out some different ones, starting from as small as they get, to a med size, to about as big as you are. For her, when the time comes to start practicing she needs 1) a LOT of lube- if you think its to much, its probably almost enough. Trust me. 2) focus!- she needs to constantly tell her body "its ok, its not painful" and relax that area, almost focus on pushing out (not like you're trying to use the bathroom, but close). As soon as her muscles start to clench she'll panic, and it'll get worse and, depending on whats in there, hurt her A LOT and probably turn her off to the whole thing. When she starts to get really comfortable with how to relax and get that area relaxed, graduate to the middle vibrator/dildo/plug/whatever, and repeat process. It takes hours/days whatever you've got. This isnt a "hey lets work at it for 10 minutes then get to it". Once she figures out the relaxing part it'll get easier, but you'll probably always have to warm up first. Another thing that helps is distraction- get her a vibrator for her clit to use at the same time, as that helps distract you from the thought of potentially getting hurt, and helps her relax much more.

 ok first off.
buy a ton of tube. about 10 gallons should be enough.
anal is not something where you can just shove it in.
you have to take it slow. put a condom on one finger and go slowly. SLOWLY. and plenty of lube.
don't expect to be floating down the muddy river with in the first 2-3 times of fingering.
to help your gf have her play with her self while you're doing it. this helps relax the muscles.
oh and did i mention lube?
