Hello Cupid!

Several months ago, my female cousin phoned me about her friend whose brother needed a friend/tour guide when he moves to Atlanta in June/July. She said he was offered a job and wanted to attend school here while living with their father who resides 20 minutes from the city. I don't personally know him nor have I met this guy in person, and my cousin figured she could be doing her friend's brother a favor by helping him get acclimated to the city, and to introduce him to me of course. I didn't have a problem doing so since I thought about my moving experience and how it took time for me to adjust to a new city as well. Plus, I was told we were the same age - 24 years old. So I read about this guy on Facebook and he seemed like he had his head on right. Family-oriented, interested in basketball, education was a priority which are things I'm interested in as well. That way we could make conversation upon him moving here. My cousin forwarded me his phone number so we could talk. I called him first and he picked up. We started talking about his impending move, how his sister knew my cousin and how I could be a good person to hang with since I'm very familiar with the city, party scene, job market, etc. The vibe between us started off on the right foot. I'm sure he felt the same way because in the next several days, he called me to make conversation again. Since our first introduction in April, we've spoken on avg 3-4 times a week just getting to know each other. He drove down here two weeks ago with a friend of his and we met for the first time in person this past Friday at a cafe (I figured it would be a good location for the both of us). To basically sum up his physical stature, he's tall, dark and handsome. Taller than I'd expected him to be - about 5'11 and was very sweet, genuine and laid-back. He looked me in the eye as we talked, he's funny, knowledgeable about a host of things including nutrition. I recently put myself on a diet and exercise regiment to lose weight and he gave me some nutrition ideas which should work in my favor. In all, we spoke for about an hour non-stop that I almost missed my appointment lol. As we left, he opened the door for me and waited for me to leave which is something I adore. I also like the fact that he's cautious about jumping on my words; he apologizes whenever he does and honestly, I would say he's a good catch. Since then, we've continued to talk on the phone and he calls me almost everyday (or texts) to see how I'm doing. Sometimes I will reciprocate the same respond, but the for most part he's more persistent about calling. I will respond to most of them when I can and whenever we talk, its for hours on end usually. But, is this a sign that he likes me? I don't quite know what to make of it. It shows that he does, but is he just trying to get more familiar with his surroundings?

I appreciate your comments.

Just relax and see where things go. You don't want to look too deeply into things because you might interpret nothing as something. Chances are he does like you and he sounds like a nice guy. Hopefully when the time is right, he will let you know. Good luck!

aunt honesty agony auntWell it does sound like he wants to have the friendship progress anyway. He sounds like a very decent man and does seem to genuinely wants to get to know you, which is a great start. However I don't think at this stage you should rush in to anything and build your hopes up in case you get hurt. I think the best thing for you to do is just to take things how they come and see what happens. It might turn out that you both end up liking each other. But for now just see how it progresses when he moves and you get to spend more time together.
