A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hi, I'm 16 but I'm really worried. I had sex with my ex boyfriend and we used a condom but I've missed my period, I'm 28 days late and I'm really scared because I've had this funny feeling in my stomach and sometimes I feel like I'm about to come on then I don't. I haven't had any of the symptoms and if I am I don't know how I'm going to tell my mum because I would have made the same mistake as my older sister when she got pregnant at 17. I went to get a pregnancy test but I couldn't because I was scared that it would tell me I'm pregnant. Help am I pregnant?

Sir Thomas More once said

If Trouble comes not then our fears are in vain

But if troubles come fear but augments the pain

So to translate from Old English the gist of what he means is that if you take the test and it's OK you have been scared and worried for nothing. If you are pregnant all the worry you have suffered adds to the 'misery' either way it is better to know than to worry

The only way to tell is to take the pregnancy test

If you are pregnant then the sooner you find out the more options will be available to you. If you are not pregnant learn from the experience and protect yourself, remembering that it isn't boys who get pregnant!!!

MeBeTonya agony auntNaturally when you're younger your periods are almost "etched in stone" as to when they're going to start. By the sounds of it, you could possibly be pregnant. Early on in your pregnancy, you're not going to really feel anything in your abdominal region. The first signs of pregnancy are missing your period. Then you should naturally feel morning sickness. But then again, most of mothers know that morning sickness doesnt necessarily mean its just in the morning.. it can last all day.

My best advice to you would be to take a pregnancy test. I know you may be scared, but you need to get this out of the way. If you are, you need to get into the doctors office and start your prenatal care.

Parenthood at your age can be scarey. I was 17 when I had my first child. And I definitely needed my mother there to help me, at first supportive, then financially until I was capable of doing it on my own.

And if you're not pregnant.. STOP HAVING SEX!!! Then you can assure yourself, you wont get pregnant..

Be very brave and take a pregnancy test. That's the only way to be sure. If you're very worried, you could go to your GP? Then at least if you find out that you are pregnant you won't find out on your own, and he/she will be able to help you. Lots of luck. xx

You really do need to get a pregnancy test kit - it really is the only way to move forward. I know its scary but knowing one way or the other is the only way that you can make appropiate decisions. It may also lead to peace of mind if you are in fact not pregnant.

Take care
