Well as some one who's husband is ALWAYS away travelling, let me say this... don't go to massive effort on the restaurant etc for the day he gets back because you will both be so emotional and he will be so exhausted, all he will want to do is crash out and cuddle up and sleep.

Book the hotel and get a take away and have a lot of really nice bathy things, and a new posh razor and foam set up so you can soak in the tub together and you can scrub his back, and he can have a really nice clean shave, and then you can lie in bed munching and drinking wine and catching up and well I'll leave the rest to your imagination.

Have a really nice lie in and then the next day you can do the restaurant thing.

Don't be surprised if having sex is a bit strange too, the first time my hubbie (he was boyfriend then though) came back from Iraq it was like having sex for the first time again, and we were both really nervous.

The restaurant is a great idea but so much will have changed to him and he'll feel like he's on another planet so don't over load him on his first day back, give him a bit of space and let him relax.

Then on his second or third night he'll want to go out with all his friends and get pissed out of his mind and catch up.

Don't be upset if he wants to just sit at home and play xbox for the first week when you have all these bit ideas you've been saving up, he just needs to re-adjust. You'll probably even find he annoys you for the first week. It'll all be ok after a week or two, trust me, we get whole talks on this from the army before our other halves get home.

Good Luck!! xx
