From a legal perspective it will be very hard for them to get rid of you as you're currently pregnant (without leaving themselves wideopen for lawsuits).

Surely you have some sort of citizen advice bureau or clinic that you can turn to for advice?

A male reader, Kenj United Kingdom +, writes (7 September 2010):

Kenj agony auntThat's always a tough one. Normally I would suggest to look for another job now, however with you being 4 months pregnant no one will hire knowing you will be going off work in another 5 months.

Sorry to make this a personal question but how did you intend to cope with being off work when having your baby?

How long have you been working in this job? If its over 2 years then you may have more rights than you think.

Just try to keep doing your job well so they don't have reason to make you redundant.

You really need to discuss this with your husband now rather than later. Does he work? Can he go for a second job or better paid job?

Look into state welfare options if you did lose your job.

See if there are any ideas you can think of to start a home business to make extra money. Maybe sell unwanted items on ebay?

If your in debt try to talk to your creditors to take reduced payments for a while or freeze interest so you can save some money.

There are lots of ways of making extra money but you also have to be motivated. At the end of the day wealth is nothing more than a state of mind.

I hope this works out for you.

A female reader, Aunty BimBim Australia +, writes (7 September 2010):

Aunty BimBim agony auntI am sorry to hear you are having the stress of uncertainty at work while you are pregnant, I know how frightening it can be.

Unfortunatly there is not a lot you can do, except plan for all contingencies, start now, redo your budget, cut costs where ever and when ever you can and start looking for a new job, its easier to find a job while you are employed.

And try not to stress, its not good for your baby, at the very least in Australia we have the safety net of Centrelink payments, many countries dont have even that!

I wish you well
