Focus instead on your own mission in life. If he wants to join you on that mission fantastic... if he doesn't, who cares?
You sound like you're addicted to him or something he gives you, so the best way to deal with this is to kick the addiction, as if you were giving up smoking.
He is bad for your health, just like cigarettes.
