It has nothing to do with wetness.
My guess would be your age as by 29, most people have had sex, probably lots of it and in some cases with many different partners.
That's my thinking on why he wouldn't believe you.
But there is absolutely no reason to feel bad and it is good that you don't want to rush into it.

 Just because your vagina gets wet does not make it look like you are not a virgin, ok first off its normal to get wet and there is nothing you can do to stop this and you shouldnt want to stop this because as i said it is normal.
Im sure he had just assumed that you had sex before and that he was a bit surprised and thats why he looked like he didnt believe you, dont take it personally though.
