Whenever I think of things she's done in the past, I feel awful and sad. Jealousy?

A male United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hey,

I feel really down at the moment due to my Girlfriend.

I am 16 but I know I'm in love with her, and she's all I think about.

It's just that whenever I think of things she's done in the past, I feel awful and sad.

For example, I liked her for a year and a half before we properly got together, and near the end of that year and a half we were both at a concert, and a huge group of people from school went. There, she met a guy and was constantly talking to him, and I couldn't understand why because I knew she liked me and I knew that she was aware of me liking her. I didn't understand and when we were leaving I saw her kissing him. This made me feel terrible and when I think about it now it still does.

I know it was in the past but it really upsets me.

How do I stop myself from feeling this way?

Please help me!

xx

Give her the benefit of the doubt. You were not going out at the time, there were no rules. Maybe she wasn't too sure about her feelings for you, or yours for her. Maybe it was a test to see how you'd react, or maybe even to see if she was guilty. Perhaps she'd had a bit to drink. But you weren't together then, and as long as she's shown no intention of cheating, then you have no worries =]
