The circumstances are that they have known each other since the girl was 15 and then became close friends when the girl turned 16. Also the girl is mature about the possible relationship.

What's your opinion on the age difference and chances on the relationship?

You are over the age of consent for the U.K. (and most countries on the planet) and this means what anyone else thinks is completely irrelevant.

You guys want to date, what's stopping you?

The difference, despite common misconceptions based on American tv shows, between 16 and 25 is not really all that much, it never really was.

So long as the law says its cool, and you two have a mutual respect and love of each other then society can respectfully go and fornicate itself.

Can you find a teenage girl who does NOT think she is mature and ready to date someone older than recommended? The vast majority of teenage girls normally walk around believing that about themselves. The vast majority of them are wrong.

because 5 years at 22 and 27 is not as bad....
