A female reader, just a female New Zealand +, writes (29 January 2011):

just a female agony auntdear a female,

rumors are nasty things even if they are true, but are you sure you need to move school because of it? normally rumors fade over time and as long as you dont give power to the one spreading the rumor then hopefully it should go away. by moving school you are showing the person who spread the rumor that you are afraid and are giving power to them? is that what you want? you say you can deal with it, but im sure you can, be strong and try to distance yourself from the people that are attacking you. how did the rumor get spread in the first place? did a trusted friend tell someone? the guy? just relax ignore the losers out there and let it all wash away.

hope this helps.
