Question - (8 April 2010) 3 Answers - (Newest, 15 April 2010)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

okay, so i had to break up with my boyfriend, because my mother doesnt like the fact that he doesn't live near me, he lives about 30 minutes or so away from me, and i get to see him every weekend.

and we've been dating for almost a year,

and this is the first time i've ever felt like this, and she won't let me talk to him anymore,

this all just happened today.

and me and him are talking about running away, i'm 16 and he's 18, we just wanna be able to be with each other.

and we're worried we'll get caught, then he'll go to jail. and i'll go to a group home, and it'll be two years before we get to see or talk to each other, but the way things are going right now just really isn't working.

and its not fair,

so if you could please give me som advice,

and also what would really happen if we were to get caught.

also, please don't say we're too young, or that it's stupid, because believe me, we know that it's insane, but it's the only way we could be happy, and be together.

It depends on what the age of consent for sex and living by yourself is in your state. If you're under 18, but you're allowed to live alone, then you can leave. But if it's illegal for you to leave, he will go to jail and be labelled as a sex offender, and you will sent of to a psychiatrist. The point is, it's not worth it at this stage. Wait until you're both of age and can make your own decisions. Don't rush, or it will ruin your lives.

SepticOrc agony auntIf I were you, I wouldn't. Even if you did get away, think of how much your family and friends will miss you. There is also a chance of you guys not getting a home. What would you do then? Just think of the big picture.
